Taking fitness to the next level

marshmallows If you’re a fitness fundi, you may fancy this job as a Running Concierge. At The Westin New York Grand Central in New York, fitness is very important to their guests. Many are staying at the hotel on business and want to keep up their rigorous fitness regime whilst they are away for work. Step in the Food & Beverage Director who has also assumed the role of Running Concierge, Mr. Vasquez. He not only takes guests on 2 complimentary runs per week, he also shows off the sights of New York whilst enjoying the run with guests. It’s a chance to find out how their stay is going and if they can do anything to improve the quality of the guests stay. It’s a great opportunity for feedback and to get to know guests. Plus, everyone stays fit – marvellous!!

Marshmallows make the world go round

These marvellous employees are responsible for providing guests with scrummy S’mores on a daily basis. And, aside from the complimentary array of delicious S’mores available to guests during their stay, they can also take lessons on how to create their own S’more masterpieces, with the help of the Marshmologists of course.

And this programme of teaching the art of S’more making is not limited to kids – adults love the concept and are provided with the ingredients to create their own deliciousness. Why not!

Everybody go surfing…

We’ve heard about some of the outrageous pet pampering that goes on at hotels these days but we have to say, surfing instructors for dogs is definitely a very cool job to have. At the Loews Coronado Beach Resort, the Coronado Surfing Academy helps both guests and canines to surf the warm waters of the ocean. Comparing between human and canine surfers, owner Teevan McManus says that more often than not, canines are the better surfers. For this job, we suggest that you should have a love of the ocean, swimming, surfing and of course a love for the 4 legged canine variety.

Wave your magic wand

Who doesn’t love a Fairy Godmother? Well, if your name is Denise Webb and you work at Barnsley Garden Resort in America you have certainly got the perfect hotel job. Webb’s job is primarily to leave gifts in guest’s rooms, enhance guest’s social experiences such as marriage proposals or arranging children’s bedtime turndowns that include toys, books and cookies with milk. This is definitely a job that will put a smile on your face every day, and also on the guests faces who are treated to such delightful thoughtfulness.

Avocado: the party fruit you never knew about

At The Ritz-Carlton in Dallas guests are treated to mouth-watering Guacamole. And if like us you’re wondering just why this guacamole has come to be so sought after, we can’t decide if it’s because the Guacamologist (now say that three times fast) knows exactly when an Avocado is ripe, how much salt to use or how many jalapeno’s need to be added to make the perfect guacamole, or if it’s down to how much love is used to make the dip. One things for certain, guests are treated to the Guacamologists complimentary creations at 6pm daily in the reception area, coupled with warm tortilla chips and they can’t get enough of it. They even get to take home the recipe on a recipe card. And if guests want to take it a step further, they can sign up for job shadowing for a day with the Guacamologist to learn the tricks of the trade.
