Established in 1994, and totally focused on the dynamic tourism and hospitality industry, The International Hotel School has grown from strength to strength. Growing steadily and offering a range of hospitality and culinary full time, traineeship and online learning  & distance learning programmes. This year we have embarked on a new journey and are opening up a campus in Menlyn, Pretoria as of Aprl 2017. Our Pretoria Campus will offer the same programmes as our other campuses in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg. Professional Cookery and Kitchen Management Programme
- 3-year programme
- Minimum entry requirement – National Senior Certificate with a Diploma entry pass
- Courses commence each year in January and July.
The Culinary Industry is a dynamic industry that is growing every day and there is a shortage of top quality culinary professionals globally. If you have what it takes, you could fill one of those positions, and our Professional Cookery and Kitchen Management programme is the perfect place to start your journey.
This programme has a balanced mix of food and beverage subjects as well as business management subjects ensuring that students are grounded in both Food and Beverage Operations and Kitchen Management.
Practical industry experience is a vital part of the knowledge and skills you need to become a world class Hospitality or Culinary Professional. Our Work Integrated Learning (practical) which takes place at leading hospitality establishments is what sets us apart from our competitors. For the duration of their programme, students will spend 50% of the programme on the campus covering the academic curriculum and 50% of the programme in industry. When students leave the programme, they are job ready.
Upon successful completion of this programme, graduates will receive:
- IHS Diploma in Professional Cookery & Kitchen Management NQF Level 6 (SAQA ID No: 57449)
During this programme students will complete the following ancillary courses:
- Wine Service
- Basic First Aid
Optional Value Add
In recognition of the quality of the IHS Diploma, the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) will award their Diploma in Food and Beverage Management to those who have registered with them and passed all examinable subjects with a minimum of 70%. There is a fee for this registration.
