Guests love being pampered by hotel staff when they travel. There’s the personal hospitality service, the monogrammed robes and slippers, and the free bottle of fizz to look forward to on every arrival. But this is no longer enough to keep hotel guests happy, and who can blame them when those in the know are offering pet psychologists, royal chariots and fragrance butlers. Take a look at some of what CNN reports are the latest guest amenity crazes:
1. Ireland’s Ashford Castle offers the services of a resident Dingle (that’s owl to you and me) to deliver engagement rings for every type of wedding proposal at the castle. (We hope that the birdie never flies off with the ring, #justSaying)

2. Fiji’s Namale Resort & Spa offers a ‘kidnapping’ to a secret 4 course picnic location during your stay on the stunning Vanua Levu island #Freaky

3. The Club Hotel & Spa in St. Helier, Jersey offers a sunglasses butler who will come and clean your sunglasses whilst you lounge around the pool, as well as offer iced towels, face misters, sunscreen and just about anything else one might need at the pool #DontGetUp

4. Pet Psychologists are the perfect way to ensure your pooch or kitty are pampered and cared for when you travel with them. And no one does it better than Provence Hotels (a US Chain) where pets can enjoy reiki massage, acupuncture and specialist psychology sessions to keep them healthy, well and balanced.

5. On the subject of pets, if you’re feeling down, or stressed, or lonely, Kempton Hotels in the US have a ‘Guppy Love’ programme that offers guests a goldfish to keep them company for the duration of their stay (only…no goldfish may depart the hotels). Aquariums are said to calm anxiety and lower blood pressure. #PeaceLikeARiver

6. When you need a little extra spritzing, Rosewood-owned hotels offer the perfect solution – a Fragrance Butler. With a selection of 10 of the latest fragrances on offer (5 for ladies, 5 for men), you can spray on a little gorgeousness with a phone call to your Fragrance Butler.

Your royal chariot awaits you at The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin (China). In fact, if you would like the royal treatment for your wedding, you can purchase their “royal wedding package” which includes a Rolls Royce grand entrance, free-flowing Champagne tower, royal-themed cake and a ride on the carriage.

Of course, there are also the ones we haven’t covered, like access to a recording studio at your hotel; celebrity wake-up calls; sleep concierge’s; Manta Ray’s ‘on-call’; Fendi guitars available to play; Porsche rides and so much more. So when you think you’re in the pound seats with your bottle of cheap bubbles and your monogrammed robe, remember that you’re definitely NOT! In fact, you’re missing out. So demand more from your hotel in terms of guest amenities, hospitality service and special touches, and let us know how it goes….
